Construction minerals used as building materials such as brick, concrete or asphalt have a long tradition in Vienna, as in almost every large city. The image of these building materials is not particularly good. It is usually not taken into account that there are hardly any transport routes required to produce these building materials, because the clay and gravel pits are located, if not in Vienna itself, then within a few kilometers of the city. In addition, construction waste from demolition projects has begun to be reused for new building materials. 

There are now numerous building projects in the city that have been realized with concrete, brick or asphalt, which more than meet the requirements of sustainable and climate-neutral construction through the further development of building materials and innovative solutions in the spirit of a circular economy.
