Politically and historically significant mansions in Austria
Where else can you find such a grand boulevard like the Vienna's Ring? And in which city is there such a density of palaces as in Vienna?
Clever Contents presents the series about the Austria's noble mansions left to us by the Habsburg rulers and their contemporaries.
It is one of the lasting historical wounds of the Old Viennese soul that the Viennese waltz king Johann Strauss died as a German - Coburg - citizen. Strauss was friends with the Coburg family throughout his life and often stayed at the Palais Coburg on the Vienna's Ringstrasse and also dedicated many of his pieces to the Coburgs.
The documentary by Günter Kaindlstorfer tells the history of the Vienna Palais Coburg based on the life line of Johann Strauss. The change of his citizenship had a heartfelt reason: it was the only way he could obtain a divorce from his second wife, which was not possible under the Austrian Catholic marriage law.
