What connects Schladming with Brazil
Today everyone knows Schladming as a winter paradise. Probably only a few guests of this community have asked themselves why the town hall is housed in a magnificent palace - and why on the second floor of this building a stone crown refers to the Brazilian Empire.
From here, director Alexander Frohner and author Günter Fuhrmann unravel the mystery of Schladming and come as far as to Brazil, on the trail of the descendants of the Austrian Archduchess Leopoldine, who was married there. One of her heirs, August Leopold, later made Schladming his main residence. The Coburger with Brazilian roots attracted the international high nobility and artists from all over the Danube monarchy to the Alpine town.
